When You Feel Like You’re About to Break … a Letter From Anitra Lahiri

Emotional support for overwhelm and burnout recovery

To the soul who woke up with dread sitting on your chest …
To the one who can’t remember the last time you felt truly rested or joyful …
To the person still showing up while secretly wondering how much longer you can keep this up …

This is for you:

You’re Not Meant to Be 100% Strong All the Time

You don’t have to name what’s causing it.
Maybe it’s everything.
Maybe it’s nothing you can explain.

Too much negativity in the world.
Too many people in power holding you down.
Too many rights violated.
Too much change.
Too much to do.
Too many bills.
Too much pressure to look okay when inside, you’re really not.

You Were Never Meant to Be Perfect

In a society that celebrates filtered selfies,
social media flawlessness,
toxic masculinity disguised as strength,
toxic femininity disguised as perfection,
of course it’s no wonder that you might feel exhausted, just by being human.
Especially now.

You don’t have to be graceful all the time.
You don’t have to be palatable.
You don’t have to post it for it to be real.
And you most definitely don’t need to hold it all together every second of every day.
You. Can. Rest.

What matters most is how you care for yourself when no one is watching.
And how you begin to remember that your soul was never meant to be curated.

You’re Allowed to Not be OK

Let it be OK to feel this.
Let it be OK to not be strong right now.
Let it be OK to not deny it, fix it, perform it, push through it.
Let it be OK to take a breath.

Right now, in this moment, give yourself permission.
To pause.
To rest.
To let go.
To be … as you are.

Even if all you do today is breathe and drink water, maybe just maybe, once in awhile …
That. Is. Enough.

Healing Doesn’t Always Look Heroic

Healing isn’t always bold or beautiful, or posted on social media in images of bliss.
Sometimes it’s lying under a blanket with the phone off.
Sometimes it’s saying no.
Sometimes it’s taking a break from the news, the posts, the opinions, the reality.
Sometimes it’s just one breath at a time.

You Don’t Have to Earn Your Right to Slow Down

There’s nothing you need to prove to deserve rest.
You don’t need to hit a wall or collapse in order to justify pausing.

Society tells us to push, to hustle, to keep it in and keep going, to be grateful for what you have and suck it up, however things are …
but your higher self is actually calling for something quieter and wiser.

It’s OK to want less noise.
It’s OK to crave peace, even when the country or world is in chaos.
It’s OK to say, “I don’t want to be a part of this right now.”

Your nervous system deserves stability.
Your spirit deserves gentleness.
And you don’t need to justify needing space to breathe.

So, if you need it, let this be your permission.
To stop.
To feel.
To exhale.
To take a break.

So, let the world spin without you for a moment.
Let yourself just be.

And when you’re ready, even if it’s not today (or tomorrow),
You’ll stand up again … and take one step forward.
